About Marsha Phoenix Memorial Trust
Marsha Phoenix Memorial Trust provides supported accommodation for young women with complex needs, including experiences of trauma, homelessness and safeguarding vulnerabilities.
Following recent service monitoring and safeguarding reviews, we are strengthening our out-of-hours supervision, escalation processes and professional standards. We are recruiting a Night and Weekend Supervisor to play a key role in maintaining safety, dignity and accountability during nights and weekends.
This is a front-line supervisory role with clearly defined boundaries. It is not a management or case-holding position.
About the role
As the Night and Weekend Supervisor, you will be the senior on-site presence during allocated shifts. Your role is to ensure that residents are safe, supported and treated with dignity, and that staff practice remains professional, respectful and policy-compliant.
You will supervise practice rather than people, respond to incidents proportionately, and ensure that safeguarding and serious concerns are promptly escalated to the appropriate on-call manager.
This role requires sound judgement, emotional resilience and a clear understanding of professional boundaries.
What this role involves
You will:
- Provide calm, visible supervision of night and weekend staff
- Maintain a safe, respectful and trauma-informed environment for residents
- Act as the out-of-hours escalation point for safeguarding, welfare and serious risk concerns
- Ensure safeguarding concerns are documented and escalated in line with policy
- Challenge unsafe, unprofessional or disrespectful practice immediately
- Uphold confidentiality, equality and professional boundaries at all times
- Manage incidents overnight and at weekends, prioritising safety and clear handover
- Maintain accurate shift logs, incident records and handovers
Important boundaries of the role
This role is deliberately defined to protect residents, staff and the organisation.
You will not:
- Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Hold safeguarding cases independently
- Make placement, move-on or eviction decisions
- Manage staff performance, supervision or disciplinary processes
- Withhold keys, impose sanctions or restrict access outside policy
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is:
- Calm, professional and reliable under pressure
- Clear about safeguarding responsibilities and escalation
- Confident challenging poor practice respectfully
- Able to hold authority without over-stepping
- Committed to dignity, equality and non-judgemental practice
Essential experience
- Working with vulnerable adults or young people (supported housing, homelessness, care or similar settings)
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and escalation
- Experience working nights, weekends or out-of-hours
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
Desirable
- Practice-focused supervisory experience
- Trauma-informed training
- Experience in commissioned or regulated services
Safeguarding, equality and suitability
Safeguarding is central to this role. All staff are expected to act promptly, professionally and accountably when concerns arise.
This role requires:
- Enhanced DBS clearance
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and professional boundaries
- Respect for diversity, equality and dignity
This is a female-only role under the Equality Act 2010 (Schedule 9) due to the nature of the service and residents supported.
