This post is open to employees of the five LAASP organisations. As part of your application, you will be asked to confirm that you are a current employee of The Clatterbridge Centre, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, Liverpool University Hospitals, Liverpool Women’s Hospital or, The Walton Centre.
The key purpose of this role is to ensure the quality and content of the axess Outreach service offer is both equitable and accessible across the whole axess region. Particular focus will be given to those areas outside of the Liverpool City Centre area, within the axess regional footprint. An important factor will be to take in to account the variety of needs demonstrated by each regional demographic. This role will aim to empower vulnerable groups within local communities to make positive choices regarding sexual health and relationships. Focus on reducing the incidence of; sexually transmitted infections, unintended pregnancies including teenage pregnancies, the transmission and late diagnosis of HIV are also core components. The post holder will undertake asymptomatic screening including assisting patients to take self-taken tests for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea, performing venepuncture to collect blood tests for Syphilis, Hepatitis and/or HIV Ab/Ag screening. The post holder will also need to be competent in assessing patients for HIV testing and be able to perform HIV testing as appropriate.
The principal target groups that axess Sexual Health outreach provides services to are;
- Commercial Sex Workers
- Homeless Clients
- Drug Users
- Men who have sex with men
- BMEA communities
- Students and young people
- Develop action plans to support the implementation of sexual health improvement programmes aimed at vulnerable groups.
- To coordinate the content and delivery of Outreach campaigns, both National and local, as agreed with the Outreach Team members and Senior Outreach Practitioners
- To work closely with axess Communications Officer, ensuring Outreach events, campaigns and initiatives are adequately represented within the Trust, the axess service and on social media platforms
- Undertake asymptomatic screening including assisting patients to take Self taken tests for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea, performing venepuncture to collect blood tests for Syphilis, Hepatitis and/or HIV Ab/Ag screening. - Dispense medications as directed by service prescribers through Patient Specific Directives or Patient Group Direction for registered applicants.
- To ensure the accessibility of PrEP (Pre Exposure Prophylaxis) is promoted across the axess service
- Develop, co-ordinate and evaluate targeted health improvement campaigns as required
