The organisation runs a range of programmes overseas that deliver major benefits for both wildlife and local people, working closely with local partner NGOs. They are now looking for an International Finance Officer to join their Programme and Partner Development team (PPD) to carry out key administration, monitoring and reporting tasks.PPD supports all the delivery teams in International together with several other teams elsewhere in the organisation. Their main duties are project development, grant fundraising and grant management, but we also work on carbon finance, programme management and partner capacity-building.What's the role about?The post-holder will contribute in three main ways.They will undertake financial administration work for the charity's funded international programmes. For example, they will be involved in processing payments, preparing and monitoring contracts, checking partner expenditure reports, carrying out audit spot-checks, administering the timesheet database and completing related checks, and overseeing contract budget processes.They will help PPD colleagues with expenditure monitoring and reporting for selected externally funded projects. This work will include assisting with financial claims, checking timesheets and receipts, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and preparing documentation for project audits.They will support other areas of PPD’s work as needed.Aside from excellent numeracy skills, the post-holder will be highly organised, happy to work in a close-knit, busy team and proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel. They will also be skilled at cultivating and maintaining internal and external working relationships.Ideally, the post-holder will have previous experience of handling sensitive financial data and grant/financial administration. Very occasional travel around the UK may be required.The Key Result Areas for the job are listed below.Oversee the charity's funded contract budgets and expenditure in close collaboration with project managers to ensure financial propriety.Recognise and minimise financial risk by supporting the monitoring of project compliance with external grant conditions and taking action to improve systems and processes and/or alert the Senior Programme and Partner Development Officer to ensure management is aware.Monitor partner expenditure on charity funded projects and programmes and advise relevant staff of issues where necessary.Cultivate and maintain relationships with staff in partner organisations to ensure they comply fully with financial reporting obligations to the organisation, and to assist and advise them in financial management.Prepare appropriate contracts with partner organisations and other contractors, ensure they are enacted properly, process payments and liaise closely with the Finance Department to ensure that these payments are made efficiently.Monitor and report progress towards achievement of work programmes to the Senior Programme and Partner Development Officer and to donors to ensure adherence to their guidelines.Demonstrate effective team working to adhere to the charity's values.Essential skills, knowledge and experience:Educated to degree level, or with sufficient relevant experience to be able to carry out duties effectively.Knowledge of financial managementAdvanced spreadsheet skillsExcellent numeric skillsHighly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly ExcelProven relationship and partnership building skillsProven financial management skillsProven diplomacy and negotiation skillsCultural sensitivityExperience of handling financial data - spreadsheets and databasesDesirable skills, knowledge and experience:Knowledge of the BirdLife International partnershipProven risk management skillsThe organisation reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.Closing date: 23:59, Sun, 12th Oct 2025The organisation is looking to conduct interviews for this position from Week starting 27 Oct.Interested?To apply, please click the apply button.
