Location: Midhurst, West Sussex
Salary: £89,713 to £103,976
The South Downs is England’s newest National Park and sits in a beautiful part of Southern England. While the Authority might be new - established in 2010 - the 1,600km2 of England’s most valued lowland landscapes have been shaped over millennia by the environment and people who live and work here. Its inspirational and varied landscapes, internationally important wildlife, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant market towns and villages all hold a special place in the hearts of millions.
The Authority has three clear priorities: Nature Recovery; Climate Action; and a National Park for All and delivery of these is coupled with and underpinned by the performance of our statutory planning function. Since our inception, we have been able to deliver real impacts on the ground and we continue to work with our partners to improve our landscape, restore nature, cut carbon, benefit our communities and businesses, and all those who visit and enjoy the Park.
The Authority has created an exciting new post - Director of Business Development and Growth - to work across the organisation to transform how we work and how we fund ourselves. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will lead the expansion of income generation, fundraising initiatives and new revenue streams, driving the long-term financial sustainability for the future of the National Park. The role will also guide our involvement in Local Government Reform, governance, HR, communications, the independent Trust ensuring we have the right structure and expertise in place, developing strong strategic partnerships with out new devolved administrations. You will champion a supportive, inclusive, inclusive culture, drive innovation and identify new growth opportunities so we can deliver more for nature, for the people who live and work in and around the South Downs, and the millions of visitors we get each year.

You will be a talented strategic door-opener, able to spot and develop new opportunities with entrepreneurial flair, alongside a solid skill in identifying and mitigating risk. You will demonstrate experience of leading diverse teams to success, nurturing wellbeing, and championing inclusion.
