Wirral Ark describes itself as Wirral's only independent homelessness charity, having grown from a community night shelter founded in Wallasey/Wirral in 1991. The charity's mission is to fearlessly unite people in the fight against homelessness, working toward a vision that everyone deserves a safe and secure place to live.
What we do
Wirral Ark runs five housing projects accommodating over 200 people a year, including Mary Cole House, a 24-hour, 365-day homeless hostel, and The Grand Trunk, a converted former pub now providing ten studio flats for homeless men and women. Frontline support covers mental health, substance misuse, debt advice and life skills, complemented by a Bridge Befriending Service, a social-inclusion activities programme and an on-site health clinic.
The charity also supports Birkenhead's Rough Sleeper Initiative, helping connect people sleeping rough on the Wirral peninsula with emergency accommodation and ongoing support.
Who we support
Wirral Ark supports homeless men and women on the Wirral, including people with a history of offending, substance misuse or mental health needs who are vulnerable to or experiencing rough sleeping.
