Housing & Homelessness
📍 Leeds, West Yorkshire
Turning Lives Around (TLA) is a Leeds-based charity working to prevent homelessness and empower people to live independently within sustainable communities across Leeds and Wakefield. The charity delivers a range of named services and projects including Beacon Leeds, Our Way Leeds (OWL), Sustain Wakefield, Carr Beck, Woodside and MyGaff, alongside a social enterprise, Clean Start, that provides work training.
What we do
TLA's supported accommodation services, delivered through projects such as Francis House and Oakdale House under the Beacon Leeds banner, provide intensive support for people experiencing homelessness, addiction, domestic abuse and mental health crises, helping them build tenancy-ready skills and move toward independent living. Its Property Management Service and Deep Clean and Hoarding service support people to maintain safe, sustainable tenancies, while its wider support services help people develop work-ready skills, apply for jobs, prepare for interviews and access tenancy applications.
TLA's Sustain Wakefield service extends this model into Wakefield district, and the charity works with people who are sofa-surfing, in addiction recovery, or dealing with the aftermath of domestic abuse to help them build sustainable, independent futures.
Who we support
TLA supports people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, including those affected by addiction, domestic abuse, mental health crises and ex-offenders, across Leeds and Wakefield.
