Housing & Homelessness
📍 Darlington, County Durham (national services)
The Do Good Charity (registered charity no. 1108428) is a national provider of care and support, recently rebranded from its long-standing name of SJOG (the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God), with roots going back around 140 years. The charity employs some 639 colleagues across 22 service sites throughout the UK and has achieved a 100% "Good" or "Outstanding" record across its CQC-rated services.
Housing and homelessness services
Within its wider portfolio of autism, disability, older people's and modern slavery support services, The Do Good Charity delivers dedicated homelessness services and an Intensive Housing Management (IHM) offer. Under IHM the charity acts as landlord for people in supported housing, providing a tenancy agreement, a named Housing Officer, a regularly reviewed Housing Support Plan with 24-hour advice access, liaison with Adult Social Care, and practical property support through in-house maintenance and gardening teams. Its dedicated homelessness work, delivered alongside partner services in Wolverhampton, focuses on crisis support, homelessness prevention and recovery support linked to rough sleeping.
The charity's IHM and homelessness services are accessed nationally through local authority care teams, and its broader remit also includes support for survivors of modern slavery and trafficking, who often present with housing and homelessness needs.
Who we support
The Do Good Charity's housing-related services support people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, people in supported housing tenancies, and survivors of modern slavery and trafficking, across sites nationwide.
