The Bond Board (registered charity no. 1040176) has worked in Bolton and Rochdale, Greater Manchester since 1993 to prevent homelessness by unlocking access to the private rented sector for people on low incomes. Its core service, the Bond Guarantee, acts as an alternative to a cash deposit, giving landlords the security they need while removing the up-front cost barrier that keeps many homeless and low-income households out of private tenancies.
What we do
Alongside Bond Guarantees, The Bond Board delivers wider tenancy sustainment support to both tenants and landlords, including benefits and debt advice, dispute mediation, and incentive schemes that encourage landlords and letting agents to take on homeless households. The charity also runs a Property Management Service and works to bring long-term empty properties back into use as good-quality, affordable homes.
In 2025 alone, The Bond Board issued more than 150 new Bond Guarantees, helped secure over £1.5 million for service users through benefit claims, appeals, debt reduction and grants, and supported over 1,700 homeless households into or to remain in a tenancy, working with more than 200 landlords and letting agents across the two boroughs.
Who we support
The Bond Board supports people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and on a low income who need help accessing or keeping a private rented tenancy in Bolton and Rochdale, as well as the landlords and letting agents who provide those homes.
