Strides (registered charity no. 1133739) is the current name of the West London Mission, a charity with roots going back to 1887 that provides social housing and community services across London. As the organisation has transitioned from the West London Mission brand to Strides, it has organised its work under four themes: Reside, Reflect, Reintegrate and Reach.

Accommodation and support services

Under "Reside", Strides provides low-cost keyworker accommodation, "Coaching Spaces" combining housing with professional coaching for people who have experienced homelessness while in work, and low-cost accommodation for working veterans. Strides' buildings also host a domestic abuse refuge for the LGBTIQ+ community, delivered with a specialist partner, and support emergency accommodation for homeless young people through a pan-London youth hub partnership.

Under "Reintegrate", Strides runs Katherine Price Hughes House, an Approved Premises funded by the Ministry of Justice that provides accommodation, supervision and a 12-week rehabilitation programme for men leaving prison. "Reflect" is delivered through the Highbury Counselling Centre, offering affordable long-term counselling for adults, and "Reach" runs community hubs such as the Wincott Street Hub in Kennington for local groups and activities.

Who we support

Strides' services reach working homeless people and key workers needing affordable housing, LGBTIQ+ survivors of domestic abuse, homeless young people, men leaving prison, and the wider local community through counselling and hub activities.
