Housing & Homelessness

📍 Leyland, Lancashire

Verified

SLEAP is a registered charity, established in 1995, set up by local people to tackle homelessness among young people in South Ribble and the surrounding area. It is based in Leyland, Lancashire.

Services

SLEAP provides supported lodgings, placing young people with host families who offer a safe home alongside the practical and emotional support needed to move towards independence. The charity also runs emergency accommodation and crisis support, together with programmes such as SLEAP Buzz for community engagement, Moving4ward to help young people prepare for independent living, and Thrive, its wellbeing support offer.

Where they operate and who they support

SLEAP works with 16 to 25 year olds across South Ribble, Chorley, Preston and West Lancashire, supporting young people who have become homeless, or are at risk of homelessness, often as a result of family breakdown or other crises.

As a small, locally rooted charity, SLEAP relies on close working relationships between staff, host families and volunteers. Roles typically combine direct work with young people, assessing needs and coordinating supported lodgings placements, with recruiting and supporting the host families who open their homes to young people.
