Simon on the Streets Jobs
Housing & Homelessness
📍 Leeds, West Yorkshire
Simon on the Streets is an independent charity providing practical and emotional support to people experiencing homelessness, delivered entirely through street-based outreach rather than from a single building or shelter. The charity marked 25 years of outreach work in 2026.
Outreach and support services
Outreach workers go out to find and build trust with people sleeping rough or facing homelessness, offering support with no fixed time limit on how long someone can be helped. This includes accompanying clients to medical, housing and employment appointments, helping people access and settle into accommodation, supporting benefits and job applications, and making referrals into mental health and substance misuse services.
Where they operate
Simon on the Streets is based in Leeds and delivers its outreach services across Leeds, Bradford and Kirklees.
Who they support
The charity supports people facing homelessness in all its forms, including rough sleepers, people sofa surfing, and those at risk of losing their home, taking a trauma-informed and non-judgemental approach built on establishing trust over time.
Typical roles are outreach and support worker positions, working across Leeds, Bradford and Kirklees on day, evening and early-morning shifts. Staff benefits include a pension scheme, generous annual leave, a winter clothing allowance, and access to counselling support.
