Park Lodge Project is a small, independent charity based in Clarendon Park, Leicester, that has been supporting young people leaving care since 1968 and providing them with accommodation since 1972. It was founded after a local woman became concerned that young people were leaving the care system at just sixteen with minimal support, and pulled together a team determined to help.

What the charity does

Park Lodge Project provides supported accommodation and mentoring/coaching support to vulnerable young people aged 18 to 25 across Leicester. Young people live in a central Hub and a network of cluster homes around the city, moving through a tiered model of semi-independent living as they build the skills and confidence to live fully independently. The charity currently supports around 95 young people at any one time. Staff run its Managing Your Own Home life-skills programme, covering everything from cooking, cleaning and budgeting to navigating Housing Benefit and debt, and support residents through the practical process of applying and bidding for a permanent home.
