Positive Action in the Community (PAC) is a registered charity that has been supporting people across East Lancashire since 1997. Based around Nelson and Colne, PAC works with individuals and families affected by youth homelessness, domestic abuse, and poor mental health, with services reaching residents across Pendle, Hyndburn, Rossendale, Burnley and the wider East Lancashire area.

Accommodation and support services

PAC's flagship accommodation project is SafeSpace, an Ofsted-registered supported accommodation service for young people aged 16 to 21, including care leavers and young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. SafeSpace operates sites across Pendle, Hyndburn and Rossendale, delivering trauma-informed, person-centred support alongside safe, structured housing. Alongside SafeSpace, PAC runs the Be Free project, supporting women, families and children affected by domestic abuse, as well as community-based support and counselling services.

Who they support and where

PAC's services are aimed at people affected by youth homelessness, domestic abuse and mental health difficulties, predominantly young people leaving care or at risk of losing their homes, alongside women and families escaping abuse, across the East Lancashire boroughs of Pendle, Hyndburn, Rossendale and Burnley.

Roles at PAC typically sit within the SafeSpace supported accommodation service, such as Support Worker and Support Assistant positions working shifts directly with young people to help them build independence and life skills within a safeguarding-led, Ofsted-regulated environment. Enhanced DBS checks are standard for all posts.
