Oasis Community Housing Jobs

Oasis Community Housing describes itself as a Christian response to homelessness and disadvantage, providing housing, support and specialised services to people affected by homelessness. It is part of the wider Oasis group of charities, which also works in education and against human trafficking, sharing a common vision of communities where everyone can thrive.

Services and locations

Oasis runs a range of supported accommodation and outreach projects across Gateshead, Sunderland and the wider Tyne & Wear area in North East England, as well as in Southwark, London. Its services include emergency accommodation for adults experiencing homelessness, a Housing First project in Gateshead, Ofsted-registered supported accommodation for young people aged 16 and over, and services for people with multiple, complex support needs.

• Multiple Complex Needs Accommodation Service (Gateshead)
• Drop-in and relief support services across the North East and London

Oasis welcomes applicants of all faiths or none, while asking staff to understand and be sympathetic to its Christian ethos; a small number of specified roles carry a genuine occupational requirement to be practising Christians, clearly flagged where it applies. The charity offers benefits including 25 days' annual leave rising to 30, a 7% employer pension contribution, an Employee Assistance Programme, and charity worker discounts.

Typical roles are front-line support work: project workers and support workers on day, night and relief rotas, senior support workers, and specialist posts working with young people or people with complex needs. Shifts often run across a seven-day rota, including night shifts, reflecting the 24-hour nature of much of the accommodation Oasis provides.
