About the council

North Northamptonshire Council is a unitary authority covering the former districts of Corby, East Northamptonshire, Kettering and Wellingborough. It provides the full range of local services for the area, from waste collection, planning and highways through to education, adult social care, children's services, public health and housing. Its main offices are in Kettering (including Bowling Green Road, Haylock House on Kettering Parkway and Sheerness House on Meadow Road) and Corby (Deene House), with further sites in Wellingborough and Thrapston. Housing services

Unlike many councils, North Northamptonshire is a stock-holding landlord. Its Housing Management service, which operates as a regulated social landlord, covers tenancy management, rent and income collection, estate services, tenant engagement and housing-related support, and the council has been recruiting senior housing managers to drive service improvement and prepare for regulatory inspection. Homes are let through the Keyways housing register, and the council also runs sheltered housing for people over 55, a mutual-exchange service and a leasehold (home ownership) service.

Housing Options and homelessness

The Housing Options service gives free advice to anyone who is homeless or worried about becoming homeless, carries out homelessness assessments and prevention work, and provides temporary accommodation for households in housing crisis. It also responds to rough sleeping, runs a Lettings Plus scheme that matches private landlords with tenants, promotes lodging and shared-house options, and co-ordinates a North Northamptonshire Homelessness Forum with partner agencies. Public bodies can make duty-to-refer referrals into the service. The area's main towns are Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough, Rushden, Irthlingborough, Raunds, Thrapston and Oundle.
