Who Newark Emmaus Trust Are
Newark Emmaus Trust was established in 1993 to help vulnerable homeless young people in and around Newark, Nottinghamshire. It supports people aged 16 to 25 regardless of background, and can also accommodate pregnant women and young parents with babies. Rather than simply providing a roof, the Trust aims to relieve and prevent homelessness and hardship among local young people and give them a genuine chance to build independent, settled lives.
Services
- High-support, shared supported accommodation that helps residents learn to live together as a group
- Individual, fully-furnished bedsits for residents who are ready for more independent living
- Houses in the community for young parents with babies
- The Hub, a purpose-built training centre running life-skills and development sessions for residents
Referrals come both from local agencies and directly from young people themselves; anyone facing homelessness in the Newark and Sherwood area is encouraged to contact the Trust or the district council's Housing Options Team for advice. All accommodation is fully furnished, and the Trust maintains robust safeguarding and whistleblowing procedures to keep residents safe.
Working at Newark Emmaus Trust
Staff at Newark Emmaus Trust combine qualifications to run sessions at The Hub with hands-on, one-to-one care and support within the accommodation itself, giving the service a holistic, joined-up feel rather than separating "teaching" from "support work". All staff are Enhanced DBS-checked, and roles include Senior Project Workers who lead face-to-face assessments for young people seeking a place, alongside wider care and training staff working towards residents' independence.
