Who NCNW Are

NCNW CIC began life in 2012 as Nightstop Communities Northwest, a Widnes-based scheme offering homeless 16-25 year olds emergency one-night stays through a network of volunteer hosts. Over the following decade it grew into a community interest company delivering accommodation, mental health and training services across Halton, Warrington and the wider North West, run by a team shaped by lived experience of homelessness and mental health challenges. In 2023 it moved into The Castle, a purpose-built premises that expanded its mental health provision and added dedicated triage and disability-access accommodation.

Services

• Supported accommodation across Runcorn, Widnes and Warrington for single adults aged 18+, including triage placements, move-on support and up to two years of tenancy, backed by integrated mental health care
• Mental health support, including affordable and free counselling for adults and children aged 4 and up
• The Property Pathways Programme, a CPD-accredited life-skills course covering tenancy management, budgeting, the criminal justice system and mental health coping strategies, delivered to NCNW residents and to local landlords and hostel providers
• The Positive Life Programme, a school-based emotional resilience course for children in Key Stages 1-4

NCNW reports having provided more than 111,000 nights of safe accommodation and 35,000 hours of counselling since it began collating figures, working with over 90 partner agencies across more than 80 beds in the region. It has won multiple Halton Business Awards, including Employer of the Year in 2025, and holds Disability Confident Committed accreditation.

Working at NCNW

NCNW's team includes accommodation support workers, counsellors and trainers, many of whom bring their own lived experience of homelessness or mental ill health to the role. The organisation describes its culture as passion-led and community-driven, co-designing support with the people it helps rather than delivering it to them, and was named Employer of the Year at the 2025 Halton Business Awards.
