Housing and homelessness services

Camden is a major council landlord and runs one of the larger homelessness operations in London through its Housing Solutions service. That service provides statutory housing advice for people at risk of homelessness, commissions rough sleeping services and single adult hostels, runs floating support and refugee resettlement, and delivers support in the council's own in-house singles hostels with move-on across the hostels pathway.

The service is organised into several teams. A Homelessness Prevention team of more than twenty advisers processes statutory applications, produces personalised housing plans, works with private landlords, supports hospital and prison leavers and runs an out-of-hours emergency service. A Floating Support Service helps vulnerable people and families keep their homes and supports households moving out of temporary accommodation, including Ukrainian and Afghan arrivals. The Single Pathway Service uses a keyworker model to support adults with complex needs living in Camden hostels, including care leavers and ex-offenders. A commissioning team plans more than 700 bedspaces in the Adult Pathway, oversees the outreach team, coordinates Housing First tenancies, runs a reconnection service for rough sleepers without a local connection and leads severe weather responses.
